The Indian government recently warned newspapers, TV channels, and online platforms to be careful about spreading fake or manipulated information. This is especially important right now because there’s an upcoming ceremony in Ayodhya today for the consecration of the Ram Mandir.

The government is worried about videos on platforms like YouTube and Instagram that are full of hate and violence.

These videos with inflammatory thumbnails often have provocative pictures and cause trouble by making people violent by flaring up emotions, inciting hate, and disturbing communal harmony.

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is trying to stop this by giving guidelines to media outlets that also include YouTube channels.

Even though the government is taking steps, a section of people/YouTubers exists who are looking for such chances and use religious events, like the Ram Mandir ceremony, to create hatred among people just to get more views and likes on social media.

The guidelines from the Ministry of Broadcasting also include rules for TV channels. They say that content should not attack religions or communities, show disrespect to religious groups, or promote hate.

It’s not allowed to show anything inappropriate, false, or encouraging violence. The rules are strict to make sure that content on TV and online platforms doesn’t create problems in society.
