Perhaps one of the coolest aspects of Furiosa: A Mad Max Tale was its sound track. And the man behind the music design is definitely getting all the praise he deserves. Taking a new perspective-oriented take on the music, that is, making the music as if it comes from the perspective of the character itself, The warrig’s menacing rock number is gone, replaced with the idea of panic and the strategy of furiosa. With the subtle heartbeats employed in the composition, along with organic music from aboriginal instruments used to make music for this movie, Holkenberg has left no stone unturned. Even employing the use of AI. That’s right, folks, the war between AI and “art” may get reignited with this.
For Holkenberg, though, the tool did its job. Holkenberg mentions, “I used AI to make deep fake voices from another voice. I’d actually used it, not for voices, but what if the source sound was a drum rhythm, and what if the destination sound was an electric guitar? But the software doesn’t know what to make of it. So it gave us a happy accident that we used throughout the score.”
While the use of AI and its ethical side is making issues blow up on the internet, such as Secret Invasion using AI art for credits, Holkenberg is using it to create masterpieces. It makes one wonder: if it really is fetching good results, is the use of AI still bad? Still, the music is making news, and people are definitely loving it.
