‘They Copied My Step’: Dancer Calls Out Nani’s Aaya Sher

Nani Aaya Sher hook step

For Nani’s upcoming film The Paradise, the team released the first single, “Aaya Sher.” The track, composed by Anirudh and choreographed by Sudhan Master, quickly grabbed attention. The big highlight was Nani’s mass style hook step which went viral across social media platforms.

However, the celebrations soon took a controversial turn. Popular dancer and content creator Baba Jackson claimed that the viral hook step was copied from him. He shared an older reel of himself on Instagram performing a similar move and called it the original. In another post, he placed Nani’s clip side by side with his own and wrote, “They copied my step,” sparking heated debates online.

Some users countered by pointing out that Baba Jackson’s style itself draws heavy inspiration from Michael Jackson, even noting that his stage name is linked to the pop icon. Responding to trolls, Baba Jackson wrote, “I don’t copy. I upgrade.” While many of his followers backed him, Nani’s fans dismissed the accusation, arguing that dance steps often resemble one another and that no one can claim ownership over a basic move.

Baba Jackson, whose real name is Yuvraj Singh, gained fame through dance videos inspired by Michael Jackson. He appeared on India’s Best Dancer in 2020 and also performed on Românii au talent. As of now, the team of The Paradise has not issued any official statement regarding the plagiarism claim.
