National Award Buzz Helping or Hurting Peddi’s Potential?

Ram Charan Peddi award buzz

Ram Charan’s Peddi is carrying massive expectations, but one discussion keeps returning during the film’s promotions: National Award talk. Multiple people associated with the film have repeatedly highlighted Ram Charan’s performance, especially the climax portions. Now Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar also recently said Ram Charan could even win a National Award for Peddi.

For Telugu heroes, winning a National Award has always carried special value. That conversation became much bigger after Allu Arjun won for Pushpa in 2021.

But there is also another side to this conversation. When Allu Arjun won the National Award for Pushpa, very few people expected it before the film’s release. There was no major campaign or constant promotion saying his performance was National Award-worthy. Audiences watched the film first, appreciated his acting, critics praised it, and eventually the award followed organically. Nothing was pushed or forced.

But Peddi is creating a different situation. People connected to the film are already talking about Ram Charan’s performance as National Award material even before audiences have watched the movie.

The problem with this approach is that it creates enormous pressure. If viewers go into theatres expecting an award-winning performance and the result feels even slightly below those expectations, it can lead to severe disappointment and heavy trolling.

Overhyping films or performances can sometimes hurt rather than help. Recent pan-India films have shown how overbuilding expectations during promotions can backfire big time.

With Peddi’s trailer already getting mixed reactions, the makers must now concentrate on managing expectations carefully, which may help the film more in the long run. Whether Ram Charan delivers an award-winning performance is something audiences, critics, and juries will decide after release.

Ram Charan’s next project after Peddi with Sukumar is expected to require a long production timeline. So, fans will have to wait for at least 2 years to see Ram Charan on the big screen.

That is why all eyes remain on June 4 and whether Peddi can live up to the enormous expectations building around it. National Award discussions can happen later. Right now, most Mega fans want something much simpler. They want Peddi to become a blockbuster first.
