Maddock Films is currently one of the busiest production houses in Bollywood. After striking gold with its horror-comedy universe through films like Stree, Stree 2, and Munjya, the banner led by Dinesh Vijan has aggressively expanded its lineup with multiple interconnected projects. At the same time, the big success of Chhaava has also encouraged Maddock to move strongly into huge-scale historical and mythological cinema, including Mahavatar, where Vicky Kaushal reportedly plays Lord Parashurama.
Now, Vijay Deverakonda’s recent visit to Maddock’s Mumbai office has triggered fresh speculation across both Bollywood and Tollywood circles.
Interestingly, Vijay’s wife Rashmika Mandanna already shares a growing association with Maddock. She was part of Chhaava and also played the lead in Thamma, which belonged to Maddock’s horror-comedy universe, though the film was a big flop. She is also doing the upcoming romantic comedy Cocktail 2 alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.
Because of that existing connection, many now believe Maddock may be trying to bring Vijay Deverakonda into one of its expanding cinematic universes or upcoming pan-India projects.
However, nobody currently knows what exactly the discussions are about.
Some industry chatter suggests Vijay could appear in a cameo role in Shakti Shalini starring Aneet Padda. Others speculate he may be under consideration for a negative role in Mahavatar. A few rumors even claim Maddock may be exploring him as a possible lead opposite Alia Bhatt in Chamunda. And of course, there is also the possibility that the meeting was for an entirely fresh standalone project.
Right now, everything remains speculative.
What makes the development more interesting is Vijay Deverakonda’s current career. After the explosive popularity he enjoyed post-Arjun Reddy, especially among Gen Z audiences, his momentum has clearly slowed due to a series of disappointing films and poor script choices. While he still maintains strong youth recognition, the market hype around him is no longer what it once was.
That is why his upcoming films like Rowdy Janardhana and Rana Baali are extremely crucial for his comeback.
At the same time, Vijay seems to now be actively searching for a stronger pan-India positioning. Collaborating with a production house like Maddock, which currently has strong momentum in Hindi markets, could become part of that strategy.
For now, though, Tollywood and Bollywood circles are left guessing about one thing: what exactly is cooking between Vijay Deverakonda and Maddock Films?
