Masterplan For Second Phase of Amaravati

Amaravati master plan

Capital Region Development Authority CRDA has invited tenders from consultancies for an integrated masterplan. The government has also begun the second phase of land pooling in Amaravati. This marks the next step in the capital region’s development.

In the first phase a masterplan was prepared for 217 sq km by Singapore based Surbana Jurong. This was done after CM Chandrababu requested help from the Singapore government. That plan guided the initial development of Amaravati.

Now CRDA has again invited international bidders for the second phase master plan. A notification was issued on Thursday. Surbana Jurong is said to be keen to bid again. The last date to submit bids is February 6.

Earlier Surbana Jurong prepared a spatial plan showing where organisations should be located. It also created an infrastructure plan. In this phase the consultancy must handle the spatial infra and financial plans together.

The Amaravati extension will include government land and 7 villages. Together they cover 20494 acres. This land will be used for planned expansion under the second phase of the master plan.

The extension will include a sports city and new railway line and station. Amaravati inner ring road will also be built. More land may be acquired for an international airport and smart industries.

All these factors will be part of the second phase master plan. The aim is to ensure planned growth and better infrastructure. CRDA hopes this will help shape Amaravati into a well designed capital region.
