Pulivendula, long known for its faction-driven politics, has once again grabbed headlines with fresh clashes between TDP and YSRCP members. As ZPTC polls approach, tensions have escalated, prompting the police to file four separate cases against both parties for violence, election code violations, and threat calls.
Over the past four days, the town has seen several violent incidents. In Nallagondavaripalle, a clash broke out between TDP and YSRCP supporters. A TDP leader named Dhanunjaya was allegedly assaulted and verbally abused with casteist slurs. In response, a case under the SC, ST Atrocities Act and charges of attempted murder was filed against YSRCP leaders Ramalinga Reddy, Hemadri, and 50 others.
However, YSRCP countered by lodging a complaint through Velpula Ramalinga Reddy, which led to a case being filed against TDP leaders Jayabharat Reddy, Srinath Reddy, and 16 others from the same village. The political heat continued to rise with each side filing strong legal counteractions.
Meanwhile, YSRCP MP Avinash Reddy led a protest rally from the party’s camp office to the local police station. The rally, however, violated the election code of conduct as no prior permission was secured. MPDO Krishnamurthy filed a complaint, and police registered a case against Avinash Reddy, YSRCP state chief secretary Satish Kumar Reddy, and 150 party members for the violation.
Adding another layer to the growing crisis, TDP leader Vishwanadh Reddy, who had recently defected from YSRCP, received threatening calls. Police have now booked four cases on YSRCP workers from Tummalapalli — YS Bhaskar Reddy, Devireddy Sivasankara Reddy, Raghav Reddy (PA to Avinash Reddy), and Gangadhar Reddy.
With elections just around the corner, Pulivendula is witnessing heightened political rivalry. The ongoing conflict between TDP and YSRCP not only threatens local peace but also sets a concerning tone for the coming days.
