A new scam has entered the Bangalore scene. This time, it’s the taxi services ready to take advantage of the common man.
And they have found an ingenious way to do so. Making a complete duplicate of the UBER app is nefarious indeed, but somehow it is rather impressive.

If you were to book a ride on UBER, one of these airport taxi drivers will show up to take you to your destination. They will welcome you into the cab, and you will be introduced to the “start ride button.”
However, if you were to look into your own app, the trip never starts.

If you were to ask these drivers what had actually happened, they will conveniently inform you, “UBER servers are slow.”
When the trip ends, you will end up paying a lot more than the app initially showed, but in actuality, the ride never happened via UBER.

These drivers have been using a dupe app named “Blumeter,” which hikes up the bill according to the duration of the ride.
If you make any query, the rider will promptly tell you that the “billing system is broken currently, you’ll get the bill on email next month.”
Even though they never ask you for an email or mobile number. Still, it takes some skills and ingenuity to duplicate an entire app just to fool the customers.
UBER India, too, has taken note of the matter and has promised to look into it. However, a scam like this might just start to make headway into other states and cities as well. People who avail these services regularly should take note of such wrongdoings.
