The clip was originally posted on Instagram in mid February. It recently resurfaced on X, where many users reacted with surprise over the expectations mentioned in the video.

According to the employee, the client was a 28 year old Brahmin woman earning around 11 LPA. She had registered with the agency hoping to find a suitable marriage partner.

The employee also noted that the woman’s mother was actively involved in the matchmaking process. At first, the agency did not see any issue because their initial requirements seemed simple.

The family said they were looking for a well educated man from a good family with a stable job. Based on these conditions, the agency shared several profiles of men around the same age group.

Many of these candidates reportedly had similar educational backgrounds and incomes close to the woman’s salary. On paper, the profiles appeared suitable and matched the given preferences.

However, the mother and daughter rejected every profile that was suggested to them. After repeated rejections, the agency asked the woman to select profiles she preferred from the available list.

When the employee reviewed the selections, she was reportedly surprised. The woman had chosen profiles of men who earned more than Rs 1 crore annually.

Another condition was that the groom must belong to the Brahmin community. The mother later explained that the requirement of a Bengali Brahmin was important to the family.

The video soon triggered debate on social media platforms. Several users said such expectations show how complicated modern matchmaking has become.

Some commentators also discussed the role of caste preferences in matrimonial platforms. They noted that many families still prioritise caste and social background while choosing marriage partners.

Others pointed out that unrealistic financial expectations can make matchmaking more difficult. In a country where many young professionals are still building their careers, such demands may be challenging to meet.

According to the video, the matrimonial service eventually banned the woman’s profile from their platform. The agency reportedly said it did not want to promote preferences that could damage its reputation.
