Deepika Padukone’s decision to walk away—or her removal—from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s highly anticipated film Spirit has sparked wild rumors and intense trolling, reportedly due to alleged demands for excessive bold scenes.
Some reports suggest that Deepika declined the film after Sandeep Vanga refused to tone down nudity in certain scenes. He allegedly wanted to make an adults-only film, not just in terms of action but also intimacy.
However, this narrative doesn’t fully add up. Deepika has never shied away from intimate or bold roles; films like Gehraiyaan showcase her comfort with such performances when the script demands it. So, it’s hard to believe that she would walk away from Spirit solely due to bold content.
Moreover, while Sandeep Vanga is known for pushing boundaries, even his bold scenes haven’t crossed the line into anything X-rated—they might be shocking, but not gratuitously so.
The claim that Vanga demanded total nudity from her seems baseless and reeks of sensationalism.
There may have been other, more practical or creative reasons behind Deepika’s exit from the film.
Interestingly, Spirit was never marketed as an adult film. Yet, shortly after Deepika’s exit, several reports suddenly described it as a hardcore adult movie with extreme violence, gore, bold scenes, and intense action.
Last night, Sandeep Vanga posted an explosive tweet, indirectly slamming Deepika, her feminism, and what he called “dirty PR games.” He claimed that even if the entire story of Spirit were leaked by Deepika or her PR team, he would still deliver a blockbuster and didn’t care.
While Vanga is undeniably a talented director, some social media users pointed out that he sometimes reacts impulsively, almost like a “man-child.” They contrasted this with Bollywood A-listers like Shah Rukh Khan, who regularly face relentless trolling and unfounded criticism but continue to maintain a dignified silence.
In contrast, one negative article or tweet seems enough to provoke a public outburst from Vanga.
