Chiranjeevi Deepfake Crime: Hyd Cops Strict Warning

Chiranjeevi files deepfake case in Hyderabad

Megastar Chiranjeevi has lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police after fake pornographic videos generated using artificial intelligence (AI) began circulating online. The fabricated clips falsely showed him in obscene scenes with a Bollywood actress, causing outrage among fans.

In his detailed five-page complaint, Chiranjeevi said the videos had gravely harmed his reputation, privacy, and dignity. He revealed that at least three adult websites were streaming the fake content and profiting from it. The actor described the videos as “maliciously created” to tarnish his public image and mislead the audience that has admired him for decades.

Chiranjeevi explained that the deepfake content was created using advanced AI tools and shared across mirror websites, indicating the possible involvement of an organised cybercrime group operating for commercial gain. He provided links and screenshots to the police and requested immediate removal of the fake material from all digital platforms.

He also cited a court order from September 26, which prohibits any digital entity from using his name, image, or likeness for profit. Chiranjeevi warned that ignoring this order would amount to contempt of court and demanded strict punishment for those responsible. He said such acts not only insult individuals but also promote dangerous misinformation online.

Following his complaint, police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Information Technology Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Indecent Representation of Women Act.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C. V. Anand Sajjanar confirmed that the case is being investigated with high priority. He stated that strict action will be taken against the culprits and that the police are tracing the original source of the deepfake videos to identify and arrest those involved.

Sajjanar added that deepfake-related crimes targeting celebrities and public figures are expected to rise in the coming years. To tackle this growing threat, a special task force will be formed to investigate deepfake cases and enhance cybercrime monitoring. He assured that this incident is being treated with utmost seriousness and that those found guilty will face severe legal consequences.
