Will Swayambhu Avoid Raja Saab & Vishwambhara Blunders?

Swayambhu film release delayed due to VFX

VFX-driven films may look grand on screen but making them is never easy. The biggest challenge is that once such movies enter the VFX stage, everything depends on how fast and how well the hired companies deliver. Because of this, release dates often become uncertain, and postponements are common.

Now, another film has joined this list. It is Nikhil’s Swayambhu, directed by Bharat Krishnamachari. The mythological drama was initially planned for a February release. However, the makers have officially postponed it and locked a new release date of April 10.

The delay is entirely due to VFX work. According to the team, post-production is taking longer than expected, and they do not want to compromise on visual quality. Since the film depends heavily on CGI and visual effects, the makers felt it was better to take extra time rather than rush it to theatres with incomplete or weak visuals.

Recent big films have shown how badly poor VFX can damage a movie, no matter how big the budget or star power is. The Raja Saab faced heavy backlash for its poor VFX and CGI. This was especially embarrassing because the film was promoted as a Rs. 400 crores project. Audiences expected grand visuals, but what they got looked rushed and poorly finished, which became one of the main reasons for the criticism.

A similar situation can be seen with Vishwambhara, starring Chiranjeevi. The film has been stuck in the cans for more than two years. Its first teaser received outright negative reactions, mainly due to extremely poor VFX. There is still no clarity about when the film will release. In the past, films like Adipurush and War 2 became troll material on social media because of extremely poor visual effects.

Now, Swayambhu is getting ready for release. Since it is also a VFX-heavy mythological film, expectations are mixed. Given the recent history of big-budget films failing due to bad visuals, audiences are skeptical until a proper teaser is released. The big question now is whether the makers of Swayambhu have learned from these recent disasters and delivered quality VFX, or if the film will face similar trolling. The film’s fate will largely depend on how convincing its visuals look on the big screen.
