This isn’t Karnataka’s first attempt at capping ticket prices. In 2017, a 200/- limit was introduced but faced resistance from multiplex chains and was eventually put on hold.

This time, however, the rule applies to all screens, including luxury formats like IMAX and recliner screens, making it an even tougher restriction.
Bengaluru thrives on high-end cinema. PVR Director’s Cut charges up to Rs.1,400 per seat, and IMAX screens rely on premium pricing to sustain themselves.
