Jana Sena chief and AP Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan said that people who truly understand the party’s ideology and work to carry its vision forward are most important to the party. He launched the active membership registration drive at the party’s central office in Mangalagiri.
To mark the beginning of the programme, Pawan Kalyan donated Rs 2 crore to the party and took the first membership himself. His personal contribution sends a clear message that he wants to lead from the front and strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.
Speaking on the occasion, he said members should clearly understand Jana Sena’s principles, goals and aspirations. Those who come forward with commitment and take membership will be called “Udyami.” People who strengthen the party’s movement and inspire the younger generation will be referred to as “Sadhak.” Those who support the party indirectly by contributing their time, financial help, technical support or intellectual guidance will be known as “Pradata.”
Pawan Kalyan recalled that Jana Sena was started with just 150 members. In 2021, during the first phase, 90,000 active memberships were registered. Before the elections, the number reached 6 lakh, and after that it increased to 12.98 lakh. He said people from different backgrounds, including small business owners and educated youth, have joined the party through this process.
The structured classification of members suggests that Jana Sena is trying to move beyond emotional support and build a disciplined cadre system. Instead of focusing only on election time activity, the party appears to be working on long term organisational strength.
The sharp rise in membership numbers shows expansion, but the real challenge will be converting these numbers into active ground level workers. A strong and committed cadre can improve booth level presence and increase the party’s influence in future political decisions and alliances.
By stressing ideology and disciplined membership, Pawan Kalyan is attempting to give Jana Sena a clearer political identity. The focus now seems to be on building a stable organisational base that can sustain the party’s growth in Andhra Pradesh politics.
