Another Huge Airline Strike: 100 Flights Cancelled

KLM strike cancels flights at Schiphol

KLM passengers once again face massive disruption, with more than 27,000 travellers affected after the airline cancelled 100 flights on Wednesday, September 10. The strike has created chaos at Amsterdam Schiphol and left many stranded with little clarity.

The cancellations stem from a ground crew strike organised by the FNV and CNV unions. They claim KLM has failed to provide fair wages, permanent contracts, and better working conditions for baggage handlers and ground staff.

Passengers Left Stranded

For travellers, the result is missed connections, long delays, and uncertainty. Families on short-haul European routes are worst hit, but the impact may extend to intercontinental flights as well. KLM has promised rebookings, yet many face reroutes or cancellations.

Anger Over Airline Response

The airline argues that its labour agreements already balance employee and business needs. However, stranded travellers feel betrayed after paying for reliability and trust, only to be caught in the ongoing conflict between unions and management.

More Strikes Ahead

Unions have warned of longer strike actions next week. With thousands already affected, passengers worry whether their upcoming travel plans will be safe or face similar chaos at Schiphol. For now, KLM’s assurances provide little comfort.
