Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu addressed the media at NTR Bhavan in Amaravati. He strongly criticised former CM and YSRCP leader Jagan Mohan Reddy over his comments on rivers and the capital issue.
Chandrababu Naidu said Jagan lacked basic understanding of the difference between a river bed and a river basin. He added that Jagan appeared unaware of the Indus Valley civilisation and its significance.
He stated that the Indus Valley civilisation developed along a river. Chandrababu said that all great civilisations across the world emerged alongside rivers.
He pointed out that cities like Delhi and global cities such as London developed near rivers. Despite the people of AP teaching him a lesson, Chandrababu said Jagan continues to make aggressive statements on the capital issue.
The Chief Minister said the government has taken steps to ensure Andhra Pradesh faces no water problems in the next two years. He stated that AP is leading in ornamental and nursery plants.
Chandrababu added that in ten years, the state will become number one in the world in this sector. He said Andhra Pradesh will emerge as an example for other Indian states.
He warned that fighting over water issues would only harm Telugu people. Chandrababu questioned whether using the remaining river waters was wrong.
He said his government brought Pattiseema water to Rayalaseema and that people chose them because of Pattiseema. He accused the previous government of stopping garden plant development in 2020 despite the project.
Chandrababu alleged that false promises were made in the name of the Rayalaseema lift project. He claimed Rs 900 crore was siphoned off, calling it proof of corruption under the previous rule.
He said his government would provide water without creating conflicts. Chandrababu stated that they have the capacity to turn rallaseema into ratanalaseema.
He assured that issues with Telangana would be resolved amicably. He concluded by saying his government would not inflame sentiments for political gain.
