Pawan Kalyan Should Not Have Avoided The Media Questions!

Railway Kodur Janasena MLA issue

The incident involving Railway Kodur Janasena MLA Arava Sreedhar has sent shockwaves across Andhra Pradesh politics. The timing has added to the trouble as it surfaced just before Pawan Kalyan’s Delhi tour. This has turned into a major embarrassment for the party.

Sakshi has gone into overdrive since yesterday. The coverage appears focused on extracting maximum political mileage from the issue. The narrative is being pushed aggressively across its platforms.

In response, Janasena Party released a press note announcing a three member committee. The committee was formed to inquire into the allegations. The MLA was asked to appear before it within a week and submit his explanation.

The party also instructed Arava Sreedhar to stay away from party affairs. This restriction will remain until the committee submits its final verdict. Though not termed as such, it is almost equal to a suspension.

While in Delhi, Pawan Kalyan interacted with the media after meeting Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Towards the end, reporters raised a question about the Railway Kodur issue. Pawan Kalyan left before the question was fully asked.

Ideally, the Deputy CM should have addressed the query. He could have repeated what was stated in the press note and exited without taking follow up questions. Avoiding the issue gave room for criticism.

No political party has total control over the personal lives of its leaders. Parties are judged by how they respond when allegations surface. In this case, Janasena acted by ordering an inquiry and distancing the MLA.

This response reflects accountability from the leadership. Hence, Pawan Kalyan could have faced the question without hesitation. The party’s stand was already clear and on record.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress has intensified its attack on Janasena. Sakshi is targeting Pawan Kalyan with stories aimed at damaging his image. The moral posturing is surprising given how similar allegations against their own leaders were handled earlier.
