A Delta passenger recently shared a deeply upsetting experience during a 14 hour return flight from the East Coast. The traveller had purchased two seats to ensure comfort and avoid inconveniencing others.
Paid Seat Reassigned Without Consent
Despite buying an extra seat, Delta reportedly reassigned it to another passenger on the final leg. When the traveller boarded, they found the seat taken. A flight attendant confirmed the reassignment was made without consent.
Harassment And Physical Discomfort
The reassigned passenger allegedly behaved rudely and made demeaning comments. They also encroached on space and physically pushed the traveller into the armrest. The passenger tried to stay calm, but still faced humiliation and discomfort.
Bruising From The Incident
After the flight, the traveller discovered bruising on their thigh from being forced against the armrest. This added a physical reminder to an already distressing experience.
Raises Questions On Passenger Rights
The case points to a serious issue with how Delta handles seat assignments for passengers who purchase extra space. It also highlights a need for better sensitivity and stronger protection of passenger rights in similar situations.
