India has launched “Yatri Sewa Diwas,” a passenger-focused initiative to improve airport experiences and promote social responsibility. Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the event at Hindon Airport, with activities held simultaneously across airports nationwide.
Celebrating Aviation and Social Responsibility
The initiative celebrates India’s aviation growth and reinforces passenger-first policies. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance model, it emphasizes seamless, dignified journeys for all travelers. Yatri Sewa Diwas also connects with “Swastha Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan,” highlighting women’s health and empowerment.
Passenger-Centric Activities
The inaugural event included free medical check-ups at terminals, with special focus on women travelers. Airports hosted cultural programs, painting contests, and quizzes to engage families. Senior citizens and students attended felicitation ceremonies and career counseling sessions.
Community Programs Beyond Airports
Yatri Sewa Diwas extended beyond terminals with initiatives like blood donation drives, eye check-ups for taxi drivers, and tree plantations under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” These efforts brought communities into the aviation space, linking service to broader social causes.
Aviation Growth and Innovations
Minister Naidu highlighted passenger traffic growth from 11 crore in 2014 to 25 crore in 2025. Initiatives like UDAN have made flying more accessible. Airports showcased innovations including Digi Yatra for digital boarding, UDAN Yatri Cafe, and Flybrary for in-terminal reading access.
Aligning Aviation with National Vision
Positioned within the “Viksit Bharat” vision, Yatri Sewa Diwas reflects India’s effort to combine aviation growth with passenger care, inclusivity, and national development goals. It demonstrates how airports can serve as hubs for both travel convenience and community engagement.
