Delta’s Disturbing Ignorance: Vomit Left on Seat

Delta passenger finds vomit on seat during flight

A Delta Airlines passenger travelling from Sydney to Los Angeles reported a disturbing hygiene lapse in the Comfort Plus section. Shortly after boarding, several passengers noticed a foul smell that turned out to be vomit left behind from a previous flight.

Vomit Found on Tray Table and Seat

One passenger traced the odour to a tray table covered in vomit, with the mess also seeping into the seat pocket and upholstery. Surprisingly, the floor was clean, suggesting that the airline’s cleaning crew had completely overlooked the contaminated seat area.

Minimal Cleanup by Airline Staff

After passengers alerted the crew, cleaners were called on board. However, they reportedly used only basic cleaning tools to “scoop, wipe, and spray” the area before the flight took off. The traveller described the process as “bare minimum sanitization” that did little to remove the odour.

No Apology or Compensation Offered

Despite the unpleasant experience, Delta staff did not offer an apology, seat change, or compensation. The affected passenger had to continue the long-haul flight in the same seat after a quick wipe-down.

Airline Hygiene Concerns Raised

The incident has reignited concern over airline hygiene and accountability. Travellers are calling on Delta to review its cleaning procedures and ensure that all passengers are provided with clean, sanitized seating especially on international routes.
